KENT COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Authorities say a Michigan man admitted to shooting several geese because they were pooping in his yard.

The incident happened in mid-June in Kent County.

Investigators said they received a complaint after a witness saw her neighbor shoot a Canadian goose out of season.

A DNR officer contacted the neighbor about the complaint.

“The subject stated that he had been having a problem with the geese defecating all over his yard, so he shot at the geese to scare them off,” according to the report.

Investigators found the man shot five goslings and buried them in his back yard. The man dug up the carcasses and gave them to the DNR officer.

The report said enforcement action was taken.
