Downtown parking survey wants to hear from locals

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Parking has become a pain in downtown Toledo.

That's why Connec-Toledo, a Downtown Development Corporation, is partnering with the City of Toledo, Lucas County, Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority and the Downtown Toledo Improvement District to find out now how to make parking better.

Whether you come downtown for entertainment or work, it's an issue lots of people deal with.

"On a game day I'm parking at least three miles down the road," said Mareena Mcanich, an employee at Fleetwood's who travels downtown six days a week.

The survey went live Wednesday and takes about three minutes to complete. It's open to EVERYONE no matter where you live.

You can take the survey here.

It asks basic questions like ''How convenient you'd rate current downtown parking,'' ''How far you're willing to walk from your parking spot to your destination,'' and ranking what's most important to drivers.

''Safety is number one for me, I'd say," said Michael Dushane. ''Then the location and the third one I'd go with price. I'll pay a little bit more if it's a safe area."

Connec-Toledo would like to eventually see parking lots turn into parking buildings; an idea locals can definitely get on board with.

"It would be nice to have at least two or three more parking garages or one big one that can accommodate all of the downtown traffic," said Mcanich.
