The Salvation Army is helping families prepare to go back to school.
The organization is providing backpacks filled with school supplies to families in need as a part of their "Tools for Schools" program.
Area coordinator Major Scott Kelly anticipates they will give out over 1,200 backpacks.
"It's a really rewarding experience because we are helping families to make sure their children are prepared for school so to see the kids actually get their backpacks and some of them put them right on and they're very proud to have new backpacks to begin the new school year," Kelly said.
You can donate at any of the collection boxes located at Tony Packos, selected Burger Kings or Churchill markets.
If you would like to receive a backpack, applications are being accepted July 18 and 19.
