The American Red Cross is looking for blood donors and donations.
Currently, they are 550 donations short of their goal.
The Red cross is always in need of blood donations, but because of the Fourth of July holiday, that need is much greater.
While summer may be a fun time with no school and time for travel, it is a difficult time for the Red Cross to meet blood donation levels.
Irregular schedules mean fewer people donate, and a holiday week makes that struggle even worse.
"We're seeing definitely a low. With the Fourth of July falling in the middle of the week last week, we saw about 550 less donations, which could equate to about 15,000 units that weren't collected," said Rachel Hepner-Zawodny, Red Cross SW Executive Director.
If you would like to donate blood to the Red Cross, you can make an appointment at their Executive Parkway location.
