July marks "Vehicle Theft Prevention Month".
Here are some ways to protect your car from theft:
- Keep your doors locked and windows closed, and if it's too hot in your car, use a sun visor.
- Install an anti-theft system.
- Never leave anything in your car; especially where it can be seen.
"With it being hot everyone wants to leave their windows down, leave their car unlocked, but that's not such a good idea. Ohio ranks seven out of 10 in car thefts last year. That's huge to have that many. There's three quarter of a million cars stolen last year in the United States," said Sandy Wiechman, Coordinator of Wood County Safe Communities.
