WOOD COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - News outlet USA Today said employment growth was strong in June. More than 200,000 jobs were added in the United States.

Wood County is one of the areas in northwest Ohio also creating jobs.  Officials said they plan to create 1,000 jobs by 2021, with many of them coming this year

"So projects that, things like continental structural plastics that were created a couple of years ago when they did an expansion and equity meats which is working on an equipment expansion, those may see jobs created actually this year" says Wade Gottschalk.

Other large scale projects that are currently in the works will have a big impact on Wood County

First Solar in Lake Township and Walgreens in Perrysburg Township have accounted for the majority of jobs that are on their way to Wood County

Despite jobs being created, many companies are experiencing a reoccurring problem with workers not being able to pass a drug test. But Wood County officials said this has not been as much of an issue for them.

The county is also proud of the wide range of projects it has been able to bring to the area.
