TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Toledo Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an attempted drugstore robbery that involved a hold-up note that a pharmacy worker crumpled up and threw away.
Police are searching for the man who tried to rob the Rite Aid store on Manhattan Avenue, according to a post on the department's Facebook page Wednesday.

According to a police report, a black male possibly in his 30s and standing about 5-foot 7-inches to 5-foot 9-inches tall approached the pharmacy counter on June 11 while on his phone. He said he was there to pick up a prescription, but didn't remember the name of the patient, and stepped away from the counter.

He approached the counter a short time later and gave the woman behind the counter a note and told her to "do exactly as it says."

The worker thought the suspect said to throw the note away, and she crumpled it up and threw it in the trash can.

Realizing her mistake, she retrieved the note and read it. The note said this was a robbery and that the suspect was armed and demanded pills.

She then took the note to a pharmacist, and when she and the pharmacist looked back to where the suspect had been standing, he was gone.

The man was said to have been on his cell phone the entire time and was last seen wearing a green construction-type vest over his clothes.
Anyone who has information can call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
