SANDUSKY COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - The Clyde man arrested Thursday in connection to the Heather Bogle murder faced a judge for the first time on Friday morning.

Daniel Myers was arriagned on 4 counts connected to Heather Bogle's murder: Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, and Tampering with evidence.

Myers was escorted into the courtroom while wearing a bulletproof vest as members of his family looked on

The prosecutor asked that Sandusky County Judge John Kolesar not gr ant a bond to ensure Myers wouldn't have the opportunity to flee.

And although he was not being represented by an attorney, Myers responded to the request.

"Well, I don't feel like I am a threat or a flight risk. I have a son that I am taking care of, so he is my number one responsibility," Myers told the judge.

The judge did not gr ant a bond, so Myers will remain in jail through the pretrial process.

With the arrest, Sheriff Chris Hilton is following through with one of his campaign promises, but he knows this trial process will be a long one.

Hilton says even though a suspect is in custody, his investigative team is still actively working the case.

"They're getting their work done, and they're doing everything they're supposed to be doing, submitting their evidence and doing their search warrants and all of those types of things. I am very confident that there is still more evidence to be gathered that will make this a very good case," said Sheriff Hilton.

Because this is such a high profile case that has taken years, Sheriff Hilton wants to make sure his team has everything in place before moving forward.

"We also want to make sure that our end of law enforcement, prosecutor, everybody; that we have everything that we need to make sure that we are presenting a case that serves the best interest of the people ,and Heather and Heather's family," said Hilton.

He is also confident more information will become available following Myers' arrest.

Even today, his department has received multiple calls on possible new information connected to the suspect.

"I believe that having him in custody and his name being out there is going to shine some light on some other aspects of the case," Hilton said.

A pretrial hearing for Daniel Myers is scheduled to be held within 10 days.
