Boston University mails Indians dirt from 1948 World Series field

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The last time the Cleveland Indians won the World Series, they did it at Nickerson Field (then called Braves Field), winning 4 to 2 against the Boston Braves. Now, current field owner Boston University is sending them a little bit of luck from the hallowed ground.

BU Athletics posted a video of their mascot Rhett digging up a piece of the field and mailing it to the Indians on their Twitter page Monday.

The Indians said that the dirt is headed to the Bob Feller Exhibit to join the rest of their 1948 World Series memorabilia.

The team will begin their quest for another World Series title against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. Hopefully, a bit of dirt from Wrigley or Progressive will be able to join a 2016 World Series exhibit soon.
