TOLEDO -- "It just sounded like a freight train."
"It was the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen in my life."
Those are the kinds of things you hear after a severe storm rips through the area. Springtime has arrived. It's a seasonal change we all look forward to every year as the winter winds give way to warmer temperatures and balmy breezes. But with those changes, we also head into what we know, in this part of the country, as the severe storm season.
It's a time when peaceful blue skies can suddenly turn dark and foreboding -- and when the soft breezes surrender to violent and torrential storms. They are storms that spawn lightning, heavy rains, hail and extreme winds, sometimes -- deadly tornadoes.
It's important that you and your family know their potential dangers. How we keep watch on them... And how you can be -- safe from the storm.
"Safe from the Storm," our severe weather half-hour special, aired Monday, April 11th at 8:00pm.
