Only On 11: Point Place teen targeted twice by bike thieves

WTOL 11 spoke with a Point Place teenager who is not too happy after he had two bikes stolen in the last few months.

POINT PLACE, OH (Toledo News Now) - WTOL 11 spoke with a Point Place teenager who is not too happy after he had two bikes stolen in the last few months.

"It's like kind of ridiculous because two times. I thought this neighborhood was a bit more safe. Than just getting it twice in two months," says Timothy Denis.

Timothy and his mom are fed up. The first theft happened at the family business in Point Place.

"The first bike got stolen from up here. I set it up on the bike rack, and it was kind of dumb of me to not lock it up, and I went to one of my friend's soccer practice. And when I came back it was gone," says Timothy.

The next bike theft was at their home just down the road. It was stolen right off a fence on the side of the house.

"This morning when I woke up my dad told me that it was gone because they ripped the part of the wood off, they unlocked it and it was gone," says Timothy.

Two big blows for Timothy, who loved to ride his bike.

"The first time I was pretty sad, I cried. The second time I wasn't as sad, I was like 'Okay,'" says Timothy.

"I just feel bad for him, because that was his. He just got that bike at the beginning of summer and then, like I said, I paid somebody to fix up his old beat up one," says Mindy, Timothy's mom.

But this family isn't alone. Other people have made similar posts about bike thefts on the Point Place and Shoreland Area Block Watch Page.

"Everybody's like spouting off about all these thefts and all these bikes that have been stolen," says Mindy.

Timothy says whoever is doing this will eventually pay.

"I just hope you stop what you're doing and one day, if you get caught, it's you're fault. And you should stop what you're doing right now, because one day you will get caught," says Timothy.

There have also been reports of stolen bikes in West Toledo.

If you've had a bike stolen make sure you report it to police. Police say without reports, they can't begin to track the thefts.
