GUEST EDITORIAL: Career-technical training can jump-start your career

All across the country, the demand for skilled workers continues to be a nationwide challenge given the limited pool of skilled applicants.

All across the country, the demand for skilled workers continues to be a nationwide challenge given the limited pool of skilled applicants.

Consider this, the ratio of jobs in our economy has remained the same over the past 50 years. For every one occupation requiring a master's degree or more, there are two professional jobs that require a four-year university degree, and seven jobs that require high-level skills earned with an industry credential, a one-year certificate or up to a two-year degree.

There is plenty of demand for high school and adult learners, but these students are in short supply.

The good news is that students who take advantage of career-technical training, through their school districts or at schools like Penta Career Center, can jump-start their careers immediately after high school.

To see how Penta has shaped the careers of more than 30,000 high school and adult students, join us at Penta's 50th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, September 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
