The Glass City Dog Park hosted a Falko Tree Dedication ceremony Friday for the fallen police K9 killed in action last month

Many attended, including members of the Toledo Police K9 unit, city officials past and present, and their dogs, all to remember the sacrifice Officer Falko made.

At the dedication a tree, marked with Falko's collar and a plaque that hangs on its branches, was planted, a few words were said, and a poem was read.

Chief Kral says the community support, especially with an event like this, has really helped the department to see they were not grieving alone.

"It brought me back to the night we lost Falko and all those emotions came back again. So this was such a fitting tribute for him and officer Snowberger. This tree is going to be here forever, so whenever I need to recharge my batteries I'm going to come right back to this tree," said Kral.

Officer Snowberger, Falko's partner and handler, was not at the tree dedication. Chief Kral says she is out of state training with her new K9. He says he will be bringing her to see the tree once she gets back into town.

In a press release, the Glass City Dog Park said:

"Falko served our community well as an officer.  He certainly deserves our respect.  For those of us who have dogs as family members, we fully understand what is feel like to look into the eyes our our dogs and experience that unconditional love.  Falko felt that for his handler.  For that he deserves our honor."
