New Wayne Trail Elementary app helps parents stay up to date

The school’s new mobile app gives staff, students and families mobile access to important school information including calendars, events and reminders.

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - A lot of schools are now using technology as a way to communicate with students and parents, including Wayne Trail Elementary School in Maumee.

The school's new mobile app gives staff, students and families mobile access to important school information including calendars, events and reminders.

Parents will get instant alerts about any new school information. They will also be able to take and send pictures of their kids to share within a gallery.

Parents will even be able to send a voice recording to notify the school if their child will be absent or late.

"Since students, parents, basically everyone, is carrying a smart phone or tablet these days, it allows them to access the app instantly and quickly, without having to go to the website which is very hard to view on a tablet or cell phone," said Dr. Nick Neiderhouse, Principal at Wayne Trail Elementary.

The app is primarily for parents. To download, search for "Wayne Trail Elementary School" on Google Play or in the App Store.

The district hopes to get an app for all schools soon.
