Youth Pages App helping Toledo teens

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Many parents worry about their children's safety, especially with human trafficking being such a real problem here in Toledo. Now a free app can be used as a tool not only for victims, but those being targeted as well.

Members of the community, including Sheriff John Tharp, State Representative Teresa Fedor and others are hoping that this app will peak the interest of kids who are vulnerable and could be reeled into human trafficking.

The app is called Youth Pages Toledo and it's free. It offers several topics. When you click on a topic, information and resources in our area appear. Things like phone numbers and websites will pop up and show kids places they can go to get help for drugs, health, school, money and work. These are topics that target youth who are in trouble or looking for help.

"We've just instituted another tool in our tool box to protect our children and this is what it's all about. We want prevention and protection to go hand in hand to combat trafficking around the world but also right here in Toledo," State Rep. Teresa Fedor said.

TARTA is on board as well and will begin advertising Youth Pages Toledo inside their buses. They are a good partner because they transport around 7,000 TPS students to school daily during the school year.

The app is easy to download, just head to your app store and search "Youth Pages," then look for Youth Pages Toledo. You can also visit their website
