TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo-Lucas County Health Commissioner Dr. David Grossman says a child who tested negative for Ebola on Sunday actually has malaria.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday the health department announced that the 10-year-old, who is visiting Toledo from Liberia, was being tested for Ebola. Around 9 p.m. the same day the department reported the test came back negative.
Now Dr. Grossman says the child actually has malaria.
Dr. Grossman says the child will be treated with an anti-parasitic medication.
Grossman says the malaria can not be transmitted person to person, so the child will soon be moved out of the intensive care unit.
