Artomatic 419! returns to Toledo beginning Saturday

This year, Artomatic 419! will take up three floors of the One Lake Erie Center at the corner of Huron and Jefferson, across from the Huntington Center. With about 400 artists participating, the emphasis is on quality over quantity.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Expect a fine time in the 4-1-9 this weekend as Toledo's art festival season kicks off!

Artomatic 419!

is only held every other year, and it has returned to Toledo for the next three weekends.

This year, Artomatic 419! will take up three floors of the One Lake Erie Center at the corner of Huron and Jefferson, across from the Huntington Center. With about 400 artists participating, the emphasis is on quality over quantity.

“In the past, we've packed in more artists, which is fine, and we want to include, but this year, we have fewer so we could take better care of them and better care of our visitors,” said Margaret Brogan from the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo.

Two years ago, Artomatic 419! attracted 15,000 visitors over three weekends. This year, two days are being added: Thursday, April 16 (the Mud Hens' home opener), and Sunday, April 19 (4-19).

“[We do this] so we can showcase our community for a creative challenge,” Brogan said.

Besides the artwork, there will be live entertainment and food trucks lining the streets. Artomatic is free, but some of the artwork will be available to purchase.

Artomatic 419! will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on April 11, 18 and 25, and from noon until 5 p.m. on April 16 and April 19.
