PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - Perrysburg Schools are continuing to move forward with plans to build a new fifth and sixth-grade school, and a tentative date has been announced.
District officials are still scoping out a location for the new building, but they are hoping to have it operational by August of 2017.
The district has narrowed their search for land down to areas near the high school. Their goal is to put it where the growth is.
With so many students attending Perrysburg Schools, space has been an issue; they've had to use portable classrooms.
Thanks to the levy that passed on the November ballot, they now have the funding to make more room.
"Over the next several months, we'll be working with staff and community members, and even some students, to talk about what does the inside look like? How are the classrooms going to be arranged? We're talking about that right now," said Superintendent Tom Hosler.
Plans for the design have not been drawn up yet -- that will all come after land is picked, and after discussions between staff and the community.
The district says they will have the location for the new school picked within the next couple of months.
