Only on 11: Store owners in west Toledo left with big mess after thieves break in through wall

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Store owners in west Toledo are cleaning up a big mess after some criminals went to great lengths to break in. WTOL 11 was the only station to hear what one of the owners had to say.

Police say thieves tore apart the exterior wall of the Alexis Express Carryout to gain access to a bathroom that shared an interior wall with the Pay Day Loans next door. They then dug through that wall to get into the store, but run off after an alarm was triggered.

They believe the thieves were only targeting the Pay Day Loans since nothing was taken from the carryout.

“It would have been better if they took something, it would have been better then damaging the walls, tearing it up the way they did. This is a lot more money… it's always the case, you end up paying more for the damage then the loss,” said Alexis Express owner Abdo Abgoni.

Police say the thieves moved an exterior camera away from where they were digging before removing any bricks from the wall, leaving them very little to go on.
