Perrysburg man charged in shooting of step daughter at senior living center community

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Perrysburg man has been charged with felonious assault after police say he shot his step daughter at the Waterford senior living center near Levis Commons Tuesday.

Police say the call came in just before 3 p.m. They say they arrived to find that 77-year-old Henry T. Bond had shot his step daughter 55-year-old Brenda Walls in his apartment on Wilkinson Way.

Bond was taken into custody and Walls was transported to UTMC by Perrysburg EMS. Her condition is currently unknown, but does not appear life threatening according to police.

Police believe the shooting may have resulted from a family dispute. No one else was injured and the weapon was recovered at the scene.

The incident is something Perrysburg Police Chief says they are not immune to.

"It doesn't happen here on a regular basis, but we're not immune. We all must keep that in the back of our mind and prepare accordingly," said Chief Daniel Paez.

Bond is currently being held at the Wood County jail. The investigation is ongoing.

Chief Paez says it is not illegal on their end for the residents of that senior living center to have a gun. He says that is up to the individual community.

The Chief also says he is unaware of any prior calls to that home.

Bond is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
