TOLEDO, OH (Press Release) - The Shop at The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio will hold its Grand Opening on Tuesday, March 31st from 3:00pm – 7:00pm.
The Shop features items that support independence for individuals who are blind, visually impaired or hearing impaired. These useful products have been chosen to help people with vision or hearing loss live safely and accomplish daily tasks with greater ease. Costumers are able to try products before they purchase them so they can determine the best fit for their needs. Items The Shop carries include a selection of magnifiers, reading glasses, sun glasses, adaptive tools for the kitchen & home, handwriting templates, white cane tips, closed circuit televisions (CCTV's), large print and talking watches, telephones, and tools for writing Braille. The Grand Opening will highlight these products and many more.
"I am incredibly excited to not only be able to offer this vast selection of assistive devices, but that we are able to also showcase them in a setting that mimics a person's own
living space," says Stacey Butts, Interim Executive Director of The Sight Center of Northwest
Ohio. "The Shop is the premier retail resource for people who are visually or hearing impaired in Northwest Ohio. Many of the devices that we offer were only available online or through a mail order catalog. At The Shop, a person can try the talking items to ensure they are loud enough, read effectively with a magnifier or simply make sure that the contrast print on the measuring cups is bright enough to read. Our mission is to empower independence and enrich the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired and I believe that this store does exactly that."
The Store is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm and is located at 1002 Garden Lake Parkway, Toledo, OH 43614. It is open to the public and one need not be a patient of The Sight Center to make purchases.
