TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Dozens filled the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo Monday to learn about some of the violence going on around the world and what can be done here at home to help stop it.
Father Jim Bazik, a local theologian and lecturer, spoke at the event. He said religion should not be the reason for violence, but rather the solution. Bazik said it is all about understanding and that people of different religions need to come together and talk. He said they need to create an understanding and build trust between each other.
“We have a responsibility to know each other, understand each other's tradition, enter into genuine dialogue, and be self critical, so we can collaborate to overcome the extremist tendencies in our world today,” said Bazik.
The event was free and open to the public as part of a series of discussions on religion.
