Ohio Diversity Council hosts Women in Leadership Symposium in Toledo

A national initiative for women in the workplace has been offered in Toledo for the first time. The Ohio Diversity Council's Women in Leadership Symposium was held on Thursday morning.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A national initiative for women in the workplace has been offered in Toledo for the first time.

The Ohio Diversity Council's Women in Leadership Symposium was held on Thursday morning.

The half-day forum brought together a mix of women leaders and aimed to inspire and encourage women in the workplace.

Panel discussions were more like casual conversations rather than being scripted, while topics ranged from following your dreams, cultivating change, and thriving in a corporate setting.

Panel participants said it's important to give back.

"I'm hoping that the women realize that just being real, pursuing what their dreams are, educating themselves, and putting them in the right place at the right time that they're going to be able to go and fulfill what it is that they want," said Linda Alvarado Arce, Executive Director of the Board of Community Relations for the City of Toledo.

Those who attended said the event was inspiring.

"The things I learned here were great. Different viewpoints about women in business, different ways to promote myself, different ways to try to climb the corporate ladder and still keep my integrity," said event-goer Quinn Griffin.

The symposium is just one in a series offered throughout the country, and event organizers said there will be more forums like this one in the future. For more information visit http://www.ohiodiversitycouncil.org/.
