Only on 11: Family of hit and run victim offering reward for arrest of the person responsible

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The family of a young man hit and killed on the side of the road last month is not giving up hope. What they are doing to help find the person responsible, only on WTOL.

It has been nearly a month since 23-year-old Nathan Cash was killed walking along 295. Police still do not know who is responsible and now the family is offering a reward for an arrest and conviction.

Nathan's aunt Margret Szymanski says they are making flyers, begging for the public's help. She says they are hoping that by offering $1,000 reward, it might prompt someone with new information to come forward.

“We are not giving up,” said Margret. “We are going to continue to look for the person that initially hit Nathan and left him to die in the street.”

Investigators have reviewed nearby surveillance video and have been tracing Nathan's last steps. It is believed the car that hit Nathan was a large SUV or pickup truck.

But even with these clues, no arrest has been made.

“We're very discouraged by that, we have a lot of faith in humanity and a lot of faith in general so we're hoping that something will come, someone will come forward,” said Margret. “We are going to be spreading them out around town; we are looking at going possibly door-to-door within a certain mile radius of the accident site.”

The family is also in the process of planning a candle light vigil to mark the one month anniversary.

If you have any information that could help find the person responsible call State Highway Patrol at 419-865-5544.
