MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - Debris is still scattered all over Side Cut Metropark Friday morning. It's been a little more than a week since the park was flooded and clogged up with huge pieces of ice.
This weekend you may be able to see it for yourself, as the park could be opening.
Rangers say they have been working to get the park open as quickly as possible because they know how important this park is to area residents.
Park rangers want you to be careful when you head out, because portions of the park are still not safe. They say you should stay off the trails and don't stand on any ice.
"Stay off of those chunks because there are hidden chunks," said Park Services Supervisor Bob Heckman. "There are voids under there you can get trapped or caught under. There is potential for twisting an ankle or breaking a leg."
Remember portions of River Road will remain closed. Rangers are still trying to figure which sections of the park will open.
