WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) - Hundreds of business and civic leaders came together for the Wood County economic development dinner on Tuesday night.
The 22nd annual event, which was MC'd by WTOL's Jerry Anderson, was held in Perrysburg. The event is a testament to great things happening in Wood County.
Wade Gottschalk, Executive Director of Wood County Economic Development, says last year was great for the county.
"CSX expanded their inter modal facility in Henry Township with a $43 million expansion. Fedex is in the process of expanding their distribution center in Perrysburg Township with about a $42 million expansion," said Gottschalk.
Those are just a few of the companies that expanded recently. He says more jobs are on the way too.
"Home Depot announced that they're going to create 300 jobs, which is actually double what they had originally committed when they came in two years ago. So we're doing really well and pleased with the economic environment we've experienced," said Gottschalk.
With all that said, what's next for the county?
?"Nothing we can talk about today in terms of names but we've shown a lot sites and buildings to companies in the last couple of months and we hope that some of those turn out to be good projects that come forward in the future," said Gottschalk.
He says the county's secret to success is their location and logistics, business friendly atmosphere, and everyone in the county working together to bring business to the area.
