One dead in crash on Anthony Wayne Trail near Woodsdale

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - One person is dead after a crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail near Woodsdale in south Toledo Monday afternoon.

Toledo Police say a 16-year-old girl was driving an SUV northbound on Woodsdale and ran a red light at the Anthony Wayne Trail. The SUV was bit by a car traveling westbound on the Trail, driven by 44-year-old Mary Ellis. That caused the SUV to flip over and land on its roof.

A passenger in the SUV, 18-year-old Alejandro Jackson, was thrown through the sunroof and was pinned beneath the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by TFD due to blunt force trauma. The 16-year-old driver was injured and taken to the hospital. There is no word yet on the extent of her injuries.

Ellis was not injured.
