Students at one Perrysburg elementary school are giving back to some of the people who work to keep them safe by collecting cans of coffee for area firefighters.
Toth Elementary is designated as a National Kindness School. Over the next two weeks students are encouraged to bring coffee, sugar or creamer to school. Kids can even write a special message to the firefighters on their donations.
Toth Principal Dr. Beth Christoff says the effort is just another opportunity to teach.
"The importance is to always be aware of things that are going on in our community, and think about ways that you can help and ways that you can be kind," said Christoff.
On February 13 the students will get the chance to eat lunch with a group of Toledo firefighters and hand over their donations.
