TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Walleye Winterfest is in full swing at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo.

Wednesday, events included youth hockey games, the Adrian College hockey game, open skate sessions, and a New Year's Eve party.

Some Winterfest-goers came to watch hockey game in the afternoon, with plans to come back Wednesday evening for the celebration.

"Today we came to see Anthony Wayne play, now we're going to watch this game, and we have one more game after this to watch. So we're staying out all day to watch the Winterfest games," said Winterfest-goers Kellie and Madison Shirey.

Preparations for the New Year's Eve event were well underway Wednesday afternoon.

"Our chef is busy cooking our special meal that we put together for the guests who are going to be celebrating New Year's Eve down here at Fifth Third Field. What a great venue; something different. We also have created a special animated puck drop that will fall at midnight so people can count it down, it will be unique and different; something you won't see anywhere else in the city," said Andi Roman, Communications Director for the Toledo Walleye.
