Hunt Senior Center offered free Christmas meals to seniors alone this holiday

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Christmas can be a lonely time of year for many older adults who may have recently lost a spouse or other loved ones. That's why the Hunt Senior Center in Toledo provided seniors with free meals Christmas Day.

“We're having ham, turkey and mashed potatoes, and gravy, corn and we had one lady that made a dessert,” said Meg Chin from the Hunt Senior Center.

Volunteers gave their time and resources so that more than 25 seniors would not have to spend this holiday alone.

“It's a blessing to give, so I'm very thankful that someone took out the time to help others and to think of someone else that means a lot,” said Rosalyn Heath. “When somebody just thinks of you not only Christmas but every day of the year, somebody takes a moment and shows some love and some kindness and just makes you feel like you're important."

Dinner lasted for about an hour and was open to all seniors.
