Browns struggle on both sides of the ball in 33-14 loss to Rams

St. Louis out gained the Browns 472-178 in total yards as they ran away with a 33-14 win in Cleveland on Saturday night.

The Rams jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the second quarter after Chris Davis scored on a 75 yard touchdown pass from third string quarterback Austin Davis. Starter Sam Bradford went down on their first series with a knee injury and did not return. His status is unknown, but an MRI has been scheduled for Sunday.

Brian Hoyer would get the Browns on the board right before the half when he connected with receiver Andrew Hawkins on a five yard touchdown pass to trim it to 20-7. Hoyer opened the second half as the starting quarterback, but fumbled on his first play and St. Louis recovered.

Johnny Manziel would also get the Browns into the end zone drive mid-way through the third quarter. After an interception set them with a drive starting at the Rams 14 yard line, Manziel capped off the drive with a seven yard scramble and dive into the end zone. It was his only carry of the night.

Hoyer finished the night 10/16 for 84 yards, one touchdown and one interception, he had a rating of 70. Manziel was 10/15 for 85 yards and a rating of 81. He did not pass for a touchdown and was not intercepted. Both quarterbacks were sacked twice.

The Browns close out the preseason on Thursday at home against the Chicago Bears. The starters are expected to see time in that game.
