Heat forcing football games to be rescheduled

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The intense heat is forcing schools to delay and even more football games schedule for Friday evening.

According to Owensboro Catholic, their game Friday night against Apollo has been pushed back to start at 7:30pm due to the expected heat index.

In Webster County, their home game Friday night has also been pushed back to start at 7:30pm because of the heat.

In Daviess County, Kentucky, their 7th & 8th games have been rescheduled to Saturday morning to avoid the heat.

The 8th grade game between Union Co and Burns has been rescheduled to 9am Saturday at the Big Field.

The 7th grade game between CVMS and Ohio County has been rescheduled to 9am Saturday at the Practice Field.

The 8th grade game between CVMS and Ohio County has been rescheduled to 10:45am Saturday at the Big Field.

The 7th grade game between Union County and Burns has been rescheduled to 10:45am Saturday at the Practice Field.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Tri-State from Noon until 7pm through Tuesday night. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90's with the heat index topping out between 100-105 degrees. A few spots could even top 105 degrees.

The KHSAA requires all sporting events to be cancelled if heat index top 104 degrees. The IHSAA requires sporting events to be cancelled in the heat index tops 105 degrees.
