New Lourdes University walkways open just in time for students

SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Things are coming together at Lourdes University as the institution completes an overhaul of about 10 acres of land.

Wednesday the new walkway on McCord Rd. opened up for students, allowing students to get to the main campus on Convent Blvd.

It is all part of the university's master plan. Over the past six years Lourdes University has purchased 10 acres of land, including the former bus property off Brint and McCord Rd.

University President David Livingston says weather delayed the project but the walkway is ready just as students return to campus.

"There will be three bridges or arches," said Livingston. "Our traditional arch will go over the sidewalks on Brint, McCord, and Convent. We also have new signage that will say Lourdes University on the Convent entrance."

There is still more work to be done, including a new student den, a practice soccer and lacrosse field as well as a nine hole Frisbee golf course.

Classes at Lourdes begin Monday.
