HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Lost in the shuffle of whether playing football at the University of Hawaii is still financially feasible, has been the contract status of more than 11 UH coaches.
All of which were left in limbo when Chancellor Tom Apple was fired -- the very person who held final say on those deals.
Hawaii News Now has learned that those contracts now reside back in the hands of Athletic Director Ben Jay.
A source says the purpose is to re-draft the language of the term sheets -- which should not affect the financial agreements already set between the A.D. and the coaches -- but will further delay the process.
Once the term sheets have been agreed upon between the lawyers for the University of Hawaii and its coaches -- the contracts will make their way back to President David Lassner who has final approval rights.
As we previously reported, the pending contract extensions for men's basketball coach Gib Arnold, women's hoops coach Laura Beeman and baseball coach Mike Trapasso -- will include combined raises of $55,000.
