Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller out for the season due to injury

COLUMBUS, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Just weeks before the start of the college football season, the Buckeyes took a big hit.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Ohio State star Braxton Miller will spend his whole season on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.

Miller, a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, was hurt in the Orange Bowl last January. He had surgery for a torn labrum, and was recovering slowly until a setback during practice last Friday.

Losing one of the top five players in the country is a blow for OSU and a loss for college football, but the Buckeyes have others ready to fill the vacancy.

JT Barrett will be the starting quarterback. A four-star quarterback and redshirt freshman, Barrett would have been the starter next year if Miller played this year.
