SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) - Sylvania Schools has changed the look of the district website and are teaching students how to search online.
The new website is now much more user friendly for both parents and students. Sylvania Schools Superintendent Brad Rieger says one major change is their mobile access.
"One of the key aspects is that it is mobile friendly," said Rieger. "So our hope is that our continuances, our parents, our community members and our students can use it and it will be a very helpful tool."
Rieger says as well as changes to the website they are also teaching students about their digital tattoo.
"We are going to be providing training for students on how to be," said Rieger. "How to manage their online reputation and also what their digital tattoo is saying about them."
Students from the elementary schools all the way up to the high school will be learning about the impact they have online.
Part of the training will include cyber bullying, academic honesty and the dangers of talking to strangers online.
Superintendent Rieger also says they want the students to succeed.
"We live in a digital world," said Rieger. "And to prepare students to be successful in the digital world we have to be able to frame things, what they are going to be experiencing now and in the future."
The school will also be holding a class for parents on what to look out for online. They have not set a time for that yet but will be letting parents know when the class begins.
