This stay of unusually warm October weather has a countdown to cool. Highs will stay in the 70s and even reach to just shy of record 80s on Saturday before it all comes to a close. The end of the warmth begins late Sunday evening as showers sweep across the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. This late weekend system will be just the start to a cooler pattern next week; that will bring our coolest temperatures of the season so far.

An interactive map released Tuesday by the New York Times illustrates how widely equipment designed and manufactured for use in war is being transferred to state and local police forces.

Assault rifles, night vision goggles, grenade launchers, body armor, armored vehicles and aircraft left over from more than a decade of war in Afghanistan and Iraq have been sold to police forces thanks to a program started by the Department of Defense in the 1990's.

The majority of the cost of the equipment is often covered by federal grants. In one case earlier this year, the city of Tiffin paid just $1 for an armored vehicle known as a "Humber Pig."

The map breaks down county-by-county exactly how many of each weapon has been sent to police departments across the United States.

Below is a listing of what northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan law enforcement agencies have received from the military. The numbers are totals for all law enforcement agencies in that county.

Lucas: 386 assault rifles, 4 night vision, 2 armored vehicles

Wood: 108 assault rifles, 2 mine resistant vehicles, 2 armored vehicles

Ottawa: 100 assault rifles, 72 body armor pieces, 44 night vision pieces

Sandusky: 52 assault rifles, 6 night vision pieces

Henry: 26 assault rifles

Fulton: 42 assault rifles

Hancock:  8 assault rifles

Putnam: 42 assault rifles

Defiance: 60 assault rifles

Wyandot: 32 assault rifles

Erie: 74 assault rifles

Huron: 36 assault rifles

Seneca: 116 assault rifles

Lenawee: 28 assault rifles

Monroe: 37 assault rifles, 24 Night vision pieces, 2 aircraft, 1 mine resistant vehicle
