UNA Practice Report Monday

FLORENCE, Ala. -- Although it was just his team's first day in pads, University of North Alabama Head Football Coach Bobby Wallace said the 2014 Lions are already making great strides.

"We are already a lot further along than we have ever been at this point since I've been here," said Wallace, who is set to begin his 13th season with the Lions. "We are learning a lot. The attitude is good and the kids are working hard."

Wallace said Monday's session had some issues but was still a very positive day.

"It was our first day in shoulder pads and you could tell it, especially during our team periods. Our offense was going so fast that we were basically teaching bad habits on defense just trying to cover the plays. It's good for the offense because we want to be able to play fast and be able to go at that tempo. But at some point we will have to slow it down and make sure we are getting 11 people doing what they are supposed to be doing on defense.

"We didn't throw and catch as well as we did yesterday but it was also our first day in pads so that is part of it," Wallace said.
