(Cape Girardeau, Mo.) Southeast Missouri State head football coach Tom Matukewicz announced senior Kyle Snyder will be the team's starting quarterback following Saturday's scrimmage.
Snyder wore the "1" jersey since spring camp, but did not separate himself from junior transfer Alex Niznak until late in the fall.
Snyder played in seven games, starting four, last season for the Redhawks. The Barberton, Ohio native threw for 617 yards and 6 touchdowns, rushing for two more scores.
Snyder went 6-for-16 in Saturday's final fall scrimmage, throwing for 42 yards and three touchdowns. Niznak went 6-for-12 for 37 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions and ran for 55 yards on 10 carries.
The Redhawks open the regular season Thursday, Aug. 28 against Missouri Baptist.
