Aldridge stepping down at Harrells Christian Academy

The head football coach at Harrells Christian Academy is stepping down just one week before the start of high school football season due to medical concerns.

According to a news release from the school, Brian Aldridge was admitted into the hospital Tuesday for kidney complications.

Aldridge would have been entering his third season with the Crusaders. Instead, Windred Johnson will take over as interim head coach. Johnson has served as the Crusaders offensive coordinator.

Prior to taking over at Harrells, Aldridge was the head coach at East Duplin from 1985-1989 then again from 1993-2010.  In 2009, he led the Panthers to a 12-1 record and an East Central 2A Conference title. He was also the head coach in Whiteville from 1990-1993.
