BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Major changes are on the way for the Bowling Green State University campus. Demolition is underway on the Greek housing units along Wooster Street.
Some students say it's time for the buildings to go and that they weren't in good shape.
"I have been inside and they are kind of run down and old," said BGSU student Teddy Blythwood.
This is a $30 million project. Once the old units are torn down, a new community-based Greek village will be built. There will be 10 new buildings, which will house 33 different chapters.
It's all part of a larger plan by BGSU to make upgrades on campus. Eight academic buildings will see changes, as well.
"Them fixing up the buildings is actually great for the campus. It will make the campus look more visually appealing and everybody will probably love it," said Blythwood.
School leaders say the new designs will feature more courtyards, walkways and green spaces. The new Greek townhouses are expected to be ready for students by the fall of 2016.
