PERKINS TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -
The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Old Railroad Road and Strub Road in Perkins Township.
The OSHP says Dolores Weichel, 93, of Sandusky, was driving a Chevrolet Impala when she failed to yield from a stop sign while making a left turn from Strub onto Old Railroad. As Shannon Bramel, of Castalia, was traveling in a Chrysler minivan northbound on Old Railroad, she struck Weichel's vehicle in the driver's side door.
According to the OSHP, Weichel sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Erie County coroner.
Bramel had two children in her van, but both were secured in child safety seats. All three of them were transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Everyone was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, says the OSHP.
