Greenwave hope to get over the .500 hump

DAWSON, GA (WALB) - After another season with a .500 record, the Terrell County Greenwave hope 2014 is the year to make a move.

Terrell County's past few seasons have been up and down. 2013 was no different.

In five games last season,  the Greenwave scored over 35 points. In five others, they scored 12 or less.

Head coach William Huff believes this team has a chance to make a run in Region 1-A this season.

Terrell returns four starters on defense and six on offense.

Huff says the key for the Green Wave to finish over .500 for the first time since 2009 is gaining experience during a tough non-region slate including Monroe and Lee County.

"The important thing is that the kids that don't have a lot of experience that they gain experience, meaningful experience for region play," says Huff.

"I think we can do pretty good this year," says senior RB Dontavious Daniel. "We've been working out all summer, lifting weights. I think we'll do pretty good this year."

Terrell County opens the 2014 campaign against another Single A rival in Turner County. That game will be in Ashburn on August 22.
