CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

One hotel recently opened and two more are under construction right now in downtown Cincinnati.

The Renaissance Hotel opened last month and work is underway on the new Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites at 617 Vine Street.

Museum hotel 21c opened in 2012. Prior to that, the newest hotel to the downtown landscape was the Hyatt which opened in the 1980s.

Cincinnati USA Convention and Bureau officials say it's a reflection of the renaissance happening within the city, with new attractions, entertainment districts, downtown business developments, restaurants and more.

Currently, there are about 3,000 hotel rooms in Cincinnati. The new construction will add approximately 700 to that number.

Officials say the additional rooms will be helpful in attracting more large scale events, like the 2015 MLB All-Star Game

The All-Star Game contract immediately contracted all 3,000 downtown rooms, as well as 13,000 others around the area.

Officials say the number of rooms in Cincinnati is comparable to other large cities around the country.
