Perrysburg asks Toledo for more information on water situation

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

This weekend'swater crisis affected not just Toledo, but several other area communities whichbuy their water from the city.

Perrysburg Public Utilities Director Alice Godsey says the city has asked Toledofor more information and better communication should this happen again.

After MayorCollins asked customers to conserve water because of an unrelated mechanical failureat the plant, Godsey says Perrysburg will suggest residents do so throughSaturday. That's when Collins has said the plant should be repaired by then.

Collins alsoasked residents to conserve water through September, when the algae bloom isexpected to decrease in size. Godsey says Perrysburg needs more information beforeasking residents to do that.

"I'm not preparedright now to ask residents to conserve all the way to September, but if we'reconvinced that that's really necessary then we'll make that decision down theroad," said Godsey.

Godsey says thecity has requested a meeting with Toledo leaders to discuss these issues.

The City of Toledo is apologizing to a man after they billed him for cutting grass on public property near his home.  Anthony Davis and his wife have lived in their home in south Toledo since 1995. The grass in the cul-de-sac outside their home is often overgrown. Davis normally does not mind cutting it himself.  "Just so that we don't look like we're living in some type of jungle or something," Davis said. However, recently the grass grew up to his knees.
