Krohn Conservatory offers healthy family food classes

WALNUT HILLS, OH ( FOX19) -

Learn to grow and prepare healthy food choices for your family during the Edible Landscape event this month at Krohn Conservatory.

The first four Saturdays in August will engage kids and educate families on how to grow some of your own edibles as well as prepare them together.

Presto! It's Pesto

August 2: Krohn staff and Meghan Fronduti of Juice Plus and Tower Gardens teach how to grow food with very little space, as well as "spiralizing" veggies to make a healthy pasta-like base for homemade pesto.

Green Magic! Spices and Herbs

August 9: The Spice & Tea Exchange educate about using herbs and spices to flavor foods. Make salsa and pot up a pepper plant at home.

"There's (Edible) Gold in those Hills": Harvesting and preserved food uses

August 16: Krohn staff and other experts teach how to harvest and preserve summer bounty.

Wild Foods and Flowers

August 23: Mary Dudley of the Civic Garden Center discusses wild edibles and flowers. Design a salad with a rainbow of colors to sample.
