1 man killed, 2 injured after hitting parked semi

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) -

One person is dead, two others are injured, in an accident in Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. Friday on Sylvania-Petersburg Road, just north of Ida Center Road, in Summerfield Township.

A Ford Explorer with three men inside veered off the roadway for an unknown reason, driving through a yard and striking a semi trailer parked in a driveway.

The 29-year-old driver was transported to Toledo Hospital with non-life threatening injuries

The front seat passenger, a 24-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rear seat passenger, a 36-year-old man, was transported by life flight to Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, where he is listed in critical condition.

All three men are residents of Summerfield Township, according to deputies.

None of the occupants appeared to be wearing seat belts. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The names of all three victims is being withheld so their families can be notified.
