Recreation fees to increase in BG next year

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Parks andRecreation fees in Bowling Green will be increasing next year.

The Parks and RecreationDepartment says raising the fees in increments allows them to stay on budget.

So far, they'veannounced that summer camps will increase by $6, a season pass for the poolwill go up by $15, and a pass for the year to the community center willincrease by $20.

Parks and RecreationDirector Michelle Grigore says a survey they conducted showed that many inthe community do not want to see a program reduction.

"We knowthat over 80 percent of the people think that parks are very important in theirlife, and many of those people participate in parks and rec activities, so wewant to be able to continue to provide and meet those needs, and not have tocut back on programming," she said.

The fee increasewill take effect on January 1, 2015.
