Springfield Schools preparing in case August levy fails

Springfield Local Schools have decided to put a levy request on the November ballot, in case their request on the August ballot fails.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - Springfield Local Schools have decided to put a levy request on the November ballot, in case their request on the August ballot fails.

The deadline to get an issue on the November ballot is August 6, and the special election will be August 5.

District leaders say they have already cut $1.1 million from their budget, but they still need taxpayer help. The 7.9 mill levy would generate $5 million for the school district. It would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $276 per year.

If the August levy passes, the school board will take the November levy off the ballot.

They also approved a request to renew their 1.3 mill levy. They say that is a maintenance levy.

There will be one more vote before the 7.9 mill levy is put on the November ballot.
