Don't Waste Your Money: Sneaky store tricks

(Toledo News Now) -

While everyone enjoys getting a deal when shopping, many of them turn out to be slick retail marketing, or "sneaky store tricks."

MoneyWatch.com calls it "pricing psychology,"  or tricks retailers use to entice customers into buying products.

One is called the "five per customer limit," which is designed to make the shopper think that the item is scarce.

Another is ending prices in ".99" to make the item seem cheaper than what it really is.

And while "10 for $10" does not mean you have to buy 10, many shoppers still do.

MoneyWatch also says that shoppers can't resist "buy one, get one free," but oftentimes customers will buy two pairs of shoes this way when they never even planned on buying one pair.

It's a good idea to be prepared for these tricks that await you when you walk into stores so you don't waste your money.
